The days of youth have left you, and left you far behind
But you will find this abandonment, is not nearly so unkind
Though your once styled hair is softly turning gray
It falls about your face, like the silent words you pray
Your eyes are young and shining, a reflection of the skies
They hold the knowledge of a world, that’s full of truth and lies
And the pain that hides, beneath your wrinkled folds of skin
Still speaks of your dreams, of things that might have been
And the voice that spoke, with the chiming of a bell
Has turned soft and loving, with the fables that you tell
And the young and hopeful, whose faces glow with pride
Have features kissed by beauty, where youthful ways reside
But the truth is running, coming towards them fast
And their visions of the world, wont be long to last
They cannont hold a candle, the the music your heart can play
And by far you are more beautiful, at the end of the day
And now you see its twilight, night is drawing near
There is a peacefull silence, at last that’s void of fear
The time is come to relflect, on the meaning of the day
It was long and glorious, now you know the way
At last there is some meaning, at last you understand
What it means to leave, footprints in the sand
You know the purpose, the meaning of, the life behind
And now you know how truly, you were once so blind
Enjoy at last the peace, enjoy the resolution
The freedom that comes with only, the final absolution
There is a knowledge that comes with dusk, the dawning of twilight
And twilight always comes just before the night
